[Rattlesnake Mountain, Hanford Reach National Monument]The arid, shrub-steppe environment is characterized by 300 annual days of sunshine and includes the Columbia, Yakima and Snake Rivers. These rivers provide abundant recreational opportunities such as boating, fishing, hunting, and birding; and the many city parks have walking/bicycling trails connecting the communities. One can also travel in any direction from town to reach a myriad of recreational opportunities such as skiing, hiking and mountain biking on the surrounding lands and the Cascade Mountains to the west. A local regional airport that connects to major hubs; a booming wine industry; excellent medical facilities, quality schools and colleges; connection to major transportation networks; golf courses; housing in city, urban, and country settings; ample shopping and many community events are all attractions for families living in the Tri-Cities.
