Portland, OR- Rimrock Draw Rockshelter Excavations
     University of Oregon professor Dr. Pat O'Grady is the featured lecturer for the November 1, 2016 Oregon Archaeological Society (OAS) meeting. He will be talking about "The Vital Role of Oregon Archaeological Society in the 2016 Excavations at Rimrock Draw Rockshelter" in Harney County, Oregon.

     This presentation will highlight the work conducted by OAS volunteers at this important Paleoamerican site located in the northern Great Basin of southeastern Oregon.  The 2016 operation yielded new insights into archaeological, geologic, and volcanic tephra studies that will factor significantly into the next five years of research at the site.
     O'Grady notes that the 2016 field season at Rimrock Draw Rockshelter (35HA3855) could not have occurred without the financial and volunteer support provided by the membership of the Oregon Archaeological Society (OAS).

     The free, public presentation is at Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). OMSI is located at 1945 Southeast Water Avenue, Portland, OR 97214. A general business meeting begins at 7 PM, followed by the lecture at about 7:45 PM.
