Title: Principal Investigator or Senior Project Manager

Statistical Research, Inc. (SRI), a cultural resources consulting firm, has one full-time position available for a Principal Investigator (PI) or Senior Project Director (SPD) based out of our Lacey, Washington office. SRI provides comprehensive cultural resource management (CRM) services to private and government clients at the federal, state, and local levels throughout the western United States from our offices in Arizona, California, New Mexico, Texas, and Washington. This position will report directly to the Pacific Northwest Regional Manager. The PI/SPD is expected to contribute to the growth of the Lacey office by leading projects, supervising staff, managing resources, and expanding the client and project base of the Lacey Office.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
The PI or SPD is responsible for developing project research designs, planning, overseeing, and participating in fieldwork and analysis, and preparing a variety of reports. The PI/SPD monitors day-to-day progress on his or her projects and works with the other staff to ensure that each participant in the project is meeting his or her assigned tasks. Among the reports that a PI/SPD may work on are cultural resource overviews; CRM plans; survey, testing, and data recovery reports; research proposals; treatment plans; public interpretive material; and management documents such as Programmatic Agreements and Memorandums of Agreements. The PI/SPD also prepares costs estimates and budgets, edits the reports and budgets of others, and takes ultimate responsibility for fieldwork, analysis, write-up, and production per any contractual requirements. The PI/SPD may also participate in consultation with review agencies, tribal representatives, and other interested parties. Travel for and physical capability to complete fieldwork is expected for this position.
Qualifications for consideration as either a PI or SPD include holding a Master's or Ph.D. in anthropology or a related field with a clear emphasis in prehistoric archaeology, meet the Secretary of Interior Qualifications for Archaeology, be a Registered Professional Archaeologist, and having at least 12 years of fieldwork and analytical experience with 8 years in a supervisory capacity with a demonstrated ability to build client relationships, garner new projects, and lead them from inception to completion. Successful candidates for each must also show an applied knowledge of federal, state, and local cultural resource laws and regulations and specialized skillsets in prehistoric archaeology (e.g., lithic analysis). Potential candidates with less than 10 years but at least 5 years supervisory experience will be considered for the SPD position. Expertise in the prehistoric archaeology of the Pacific Northwest is required. The ability to work harmoniously and productively with SRI staff across the company and clients is essential, and the PI/SPD is expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times.
It is also expected that the PI/SPD position will entail office management responsibilities, and successful candidates must demonstrate administrative and supervisory experience completing the following tasks with the goal of providing a professional, appropriate, and safe work environment. These tasks will be
assigned in coordination and collaboration with the Northwest Regional Manager and other SRI leadership, and may entail: staff tasking, with the goal of facilitating maximal staff utilization, while also helping match employee skill sets, qualifications, and past experience with company goals and project requirements; mentorship and development of junior staff; participation in hiring and other staffing decisions coordination with HR and other executive staff, such as but not limited to scheduling, timesheet and time-off approvals; ensuring appropriate work space, equipment, and resources are available to all staff to complete tasks and meet project or company objectives; maintain regular office hours; liaise with the Regional Manager and other SRI admin staff on building and equipment needs; and other facilities management, policy implementation, and employee management duties.
