Global Warming Commission seeks input on meeting state climate goals
Portland, OR-The Oregon Global Warming Commission will hold a workshop in Medford on May 12, to gather input from the public on its "Roadmap to 2020." The Roadmap is a series of actions designed to help the state achieve its 2020 greenhouse gas reduction goal, which is estimated at 30 percent below today's levels. The Medford-area workshop, sponsored by the Rogue Valley Council of Governments, is set for 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on May 12, at the Medford Library: 205 South Central Avenue. The workshop is open to the public.
Location: JCLS Medford Library
205 South Central Avenue
Medford, Oregon 97501
Date, time: May 12, 7:00 - 9:00 pm
The Global Warming Commission is a 25-member commission created in 2007 by the Oregon State Legislature. The Commission is charged with coordinating state and local efforts on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and ensuring that the state meets its climate goals.
Also in 2007, Oregon adopted greenhouse gas reduction goals which included cutting greenhouse gases 10 percent below 1990 levels by 2020 and achieving a 75 percent reduction from 1990 levels by 2050.
"We hope Oregonians will seize this opportunity to help shape the State's strategies for reducing greenhouse gases," says Angus Duncan, Commission Chair. "The interim recommendations touch nearly every aspect of our lives in this state, from the cars we drive and homes we live in, to how we manage our farms and forests. Oregonians can speak to these ideas in the evening workshops or by responding to the online survey," Duncan adds.
The Commission would like Oregonians to take an online survey to provide feedback on the 2020 Roadmap, as well as the state's efforts to reduce its greenhouse gas footprint. The survey is online at:

Feedback from the survey will be used to give input into the Commission's future work, and be offered to elected officials and policymakers, working on a response to climate change.
