GENERAL INFORMATION
This position is with the Oregon Department of Corrections' (ODOC),
Budget Office in Salem. This recruitment will be used to establish a
list of qualified applicants
Applicants will be subject to a Computerized Criminal History and Motor
Vehicles Division check as well as a thorough background investigation.

TO QUALIFY
Your PD100 application form will be reviewed to verify that you meet the
qualifications stated in this section. To receive credit, your
application form must clearly show that you have:
* three years experience in management, policy or program
analysis, or technical-level budgetary support activities. OR
* A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public or Non-Profit
Management, Finance, Accounting or a related degree (such as Public
Policy, Political Science, Public Administration, Economics or other
analytical or technical degree).
To receive credit for required courses, submit a photocopy of
transcripts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is to assist in the formulation and development of the
Department's biennial budget document, and, following legislative
approval, in the execution and management of the Department's approved
budget. Major duties:
* assists in the formulation and development of the Department of
Corrections biennial budget document and following legislative approval,
inputs and maintains budgeted dollars in the accounting records.
Coordinates publication of printed agency budget documents;
* prepares department-wide and program-level monthly financial
status and expenditure projection reports for distribution to
superintendents and program managers. Evaluates available revenues,
develops revenue projects and recommends fiscal adjustments as needed.
Monitors program activity for DOC and the Criminal Justice Commission
and reviews monthly progress reports with agency program managers and
makes recommendations as appropriate;
* maintains various agency-wide tracking databases, including a
position/personnel database for vacancy tracking and reporting for
approximately 5,000 positions. Prepares and submits Permanent Finance
Plans to the Department of Administrative Services and coordinates with
DOC Human Resources. Monitors agency-wide position authority status; and
* performs on-line data entry into ORBITS, PICS, and the Criminal
Justice Commission. These are the various statewide budgeting and
accounting databases. Prepares and tracks budget input to accounting
system in an accurate and timely manner.

* performs work in an office environment with prolonged sitting at
computer terminals; and
* may require overtime during budget development and preparation
of special analyses;
* will have periodic contact with incarcerated felons; and
* requires occasional travel.
