WHEN CASCADIA STRIKES: DO YOU REALLY KNOW WHAT TO DO?
Guest Speakers: Ed Flick, Marion County Emergency Manager and
Roger Stevenson, City of Salem Emergency Manager
The “Megaquake” could hit tomorrow. Are you prepared? Or are you ignoring
the reality that it will happen someday? Find out Friday, November 6 when Salem
City Club presents this timely program.
Seismologists predict a 37 percent chance an earthquake will be generated
by the Cascadia Subduction Zone fault line in the next 50 years. At a magnitude
of 8.0 to 9.0, the Cascadia earthquake and its tsunami will result in
significant loss of life, widespread injuries, and major property and critical
infrastructure destruction.
Our presenters will describe local efforts to improve the community’s
survival after Cascadia, helping you understand what assistance you can expect
from emergency responders and what you can’t.
More importantly, they will take a new approach to help you develop your
individual approach to being prepared.
After registering for this program the presenters ask you to visit Oregon Public Broadcasting’s Unprepared
website to familiarize yourself with the issues. If you're registering after Nov. 4, meals are not available.Parking is free. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.
