Hello ODE Members,
Don't miss this opportunity! There are only ten days left to download and send in those nominations for Educator of the Year and the Distinguished Service Award.
The Educator of the Year Award goes to someone who has made a contribution to diabetes education in an innovative and dedicated manner; the Distinguished Service Service Award is for someone who has made special contributions to our chapter. If you're like me, each year you listen to the past recipient giving out these awards at the Annual meeting (April 18 & 19 in Portland). As I listen each year, I think, "Hmmm, I should have send in X's name, she really worked hard on that project, or, the program that Z developed for low-literacy diabetes patients was really great, I used it a lot!, I should have nominated her also!"
So here is your chance! Think of your friends and colleagues in the diabetes field. You know they're out there working their tushes off for their patients without the pay or recognition they need. We're not asking you to hand over your lunch money, but please take some of your lunch time to fill out and send in a nomination for someone pouring heart and soul into their job to help their patients.
Take a few minutes now and enjoy that wonderful self-righteous glow you get from doing the right thing! Such a good feeling for so little work - ain't life grand?!?
January 31st is the deadline to send in your nominations. Here is the link to our wonderful & improving ODE web page to download the applications.

Instructions are in each download for how to proceed and where to send the applications - Sue Amidon for Educator of the Year and Jan Mierelles for Distinguished Service.
for those reading the entire letter, I have also attached the applications to this letter, but I wanted to direct you to the improvements on the web page also!
I'm looking forward to seeing each of you in Portland at the Annual meeting on April 18 and 19, 2008 at the historic Embassy Suites.
We have a tremendous lineup of speakers for you this year.
We have world-class entertainment at the wine and cheese social and we'll have time to network with each other and catch up on new directions and new practices.
We are meeting in downtown Portland with more yummy restaurants than you can shake a stick at, and delightful people to dine with!
Send in your registration forms now, before the deadline, and save money. It's a sweet deal!
