Klinenberg's thoughtful analyses of large-scale social changes have called national attention to hidden outcomes of the development of modern societies. His other books include Fighting for Air: The Battle to Control America's Media, Going Solo: The Extraordinary Rise and Surprising Appeal of Living Alone, and Modern Romance, an exploration of love in the digital age which he co-wrote with comedian Aziz Ansari. Klinenberg is a professor of sociology and the director of the Institute for Public Knowledge at New York University. He is currently leading a major research project on climate change and the future of cities.
