The Cultural Trust, now in its 6th year of fund development, is the only cultural funding mechanism in the country to support heritage, history, historic preservation, the humanities and the arts in one consolidated way. But it can't succeed without your help.
Since 2002, the Cultural Trust has supported arts, heritage and humanities projects across Oregon that include the reconstruction of the amphitheater at Timberline Lodge, repairs to the Flora School, ongoing restoration of the Brown House in Stayton and the A T Smith House in Forest Grove, support for the Architectural Heritage Center in Portland and the successful capital campaign at Mission Mill Museum in Salem.
The Trust funded new productions at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, tours by Eugene Ballet, Tears of Joy Puppet Theatre and BodyVox, outreach by the Portland Opera, PICA's tba festival and performances in new venues by White Bird.
The Trust funded the restoration of the stage and organ loft roofs at the Hollywood Theatre, preservation of artifacts at the Kam Wah Chung Museum in John Day, the completion of the Robbins' Homestead barn project at the High Desert Museum in Bend and renovation of the College of Philomath for use as a nonprofit pre-school, senior and cultural center.
More Oregonians heard programs on public broadcasting because of Cultural Trust grants to All Classical KBPS and KLCC. And collaborations supported by the Trust made possible award winning programs like The Oregon Experience on OPB. Grants to Literary Arts took the Oregon Book Award authors across the state. And that's just a fraction of what's been supported.
You make these programs happen every day. Now please help us grow the Oregon Cultural Trust - this year - by doing the following:
1) Add up your own contributions to Oregon culture this year and make your matching gift to the Trust by December 31. No gift is too small and every donation is important.
2) Send a year-end reminder, emphasizing the Cultural Trust's very generous tax credit opportunity, to your friends and colleagues, staff, board and volunteers; members and consultants. Or simply forward this message to your address book.
3) Send a personal appeal to every Oregonian in your email address book and all your Facebook/MySpace friends urging year-end donations to Oregon culture and the Trust.
It's been a difficult year, but Oregon needs culture more than ever before - and culture needs Oregon more than ever before. Culture is at the heart of Oregon community - but also central to Oregon tourism, movie making, Oregon Main Street and downtown revitalization.
Give from the heart; give generously; give now. When you give to the Oregon Cultural Trust, you double your support of culture at no additional cost to you.
Strengthen Oregon's cultural community. Give now to invest in your own future. www.culturaltrust.org Or call (503) 986-008 for more information or to make a donation by phone.
