City of Seattle seeks portable artworks by mid-career artists
Seattle Public Utilities' to purchase works for portable collection
SEATTLE - Seattle's Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, in partnership with Seattle Public Utilities (SPU), seeks to purchase available artworks from mid-career artists for SPU's Portable Works Collection.
Artists with at least 10 years of professional experience and a significant exhibition history are encouraged to apply. The call is open to residents of Washington, Oregon, British Columbia or Alaska. Portable works in all art mediums will be considered.
A panel of arts professionals advised by SPU staff will select the artworks for purchase. The total purchase budget is $100,000 and is supported by SPU 1% for Art funds. The application deadline is 11 p.m. (Pacific Time), Wednesday, Sept. 30. A link to the online application and guidelines is available at www.seattle.gov/arts<http://www.seattle.gov/arts>.

The SPU Portable Works Collection is exhibited throughout the utility's offices, engaging both employees and the public by helping to create an interesting and diverse work environment.
The Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs promotes the value of arts and culture in communities throughout Seattle. The 16-member Seattle Arts Commission, citizen volunteers appointed by the mayor and City Council, supports the city agency.
