[ORMAP-Tech] New County Boundary dataset - comments due by August 24

Hello Everyone,

At the last ORMAP meeting, we talked about the availability of updated PLSS information and my compilation of a new county boundary layer.  I am the data steward for the consolidated data provided on the GEO site.  I completed an update of the boundaries I developed beginning in 2009 to incorporate the best available data and to include descriptive information per the Administrative Boundaries standard:  http://www.oregon.gov/DAS/CIO/GEO/docs/adminbounds/administrative_boundaries_std_2_final.pdf?ga=t

Boundaries are based on the descriptions in the Oregon Revised Statutes.  Unfortunately, that record is incomplete, since some referenced descriptions are not included (i.e. Umpqua County, "present county boundary" (Benton), etc.), and there is at least one conflict (Washington/Yamhill).  If any of you have official documentation covering issues not listed in the statutes, I would appreciate a copy or any help to produce the correct linework.  I have some lines from county datasets already included.

Please compare this data to your county's official data and let me know about any inconsistencies.  At this point, PLSS is probably the most likely source of differences since the updated information is quite different from the old dataset.  Points may have moved anywhere from a fraction of an inch to 40 feet or more in the BLM data.  I also used newer elevation data for the Cascade Range portion of the Hood River boundary where LiDAR is available.

While this data may not be suitable for use with tax lot information, it is designed to be vertically integrated with the source feature data (PLSS, ridge, stream, etc.).  I plan to publish the data after this round of reviews and subsequent discussions/updates.

Please pass this around as preliminary data to anyone who can help refine the linework.
