Comment Sought on Slow-No-Wake Zone
The Oregon State Marine Board will accept public comment through Feb. 28 on a proposed 5 mph/slow-no-wake zone on the canal that connects the Petric Park boat ramp to the Wood River on the north end of Agency Lake in Klamath County.
The petitioner is requesting the rule to prevent bank erosion and protect young and nesting waterfowl. "The canal is a narrow, shallow waterbody with marsh on the west side," said Klamath County Corporal Shawn Richards. "The width and depth of the waterbody makes it unsuitable for high-speed operation."
Comment will be accepted via e-mail, mail or fax. Comments will not be accepted over the phone. Mail comments to: Randy Henry, OSMB, PO Box 14145, Salem, OR, 97309; e-mail; Randy.H.Henry at state.or.us ; Fax (503) 378-4597.
