BLM Seeks Grant for Boating Facility
The Bureau of Land Management, with the sponsorship of Baker County, is seeking a grant from the Oregon State Marine Board for improvements at the Spring Recreation site on Brownlee Reservoir. The Board will consider the request at the March 16 meeting in Portland.
The Bureau wants to extend the existing concrete ramp and provide connecting lanes to the low-water ramp at this location on Brownlee Reservoir. In the same project, the Bureau also wants to replace the existing vault-style toilets. The Bureau is applying for a grant of $34,000. Funds for the grant come from state boat title and registration fees and motorboat fuel tax revenues.

Malheur County Seeks Grant for Bully Creek Reservoir
Malheur County is seeking a grant from the Oregon State Marine Board to improve facilities at the county park on Bully Creek Reservoir. The Board will consider the request at its March 16 meeting in Portland.
The county wants to redo the existing parking area and access road at the main public launch site at the county park. "The existing boat trailer parking area has large cracks and areas where the existing asphalt is failing," says Wayne Shuyler, Facilities Manager for the Marine Board. "The damage to the parking area has increased due to the freeze and thaw of winter."
The county will remove the damaged areas, compact the area, overlay the ground with an asphalt mixture and re-stripe the surface. The estimated cost of the project is $14,000. Funds for the grant come from state boat title and registration fees and motorboat fuel tax revenues.

Port of Garibaldi Seeks Grant for Boating Ramp
The Port of Garibaldi is seeking a grant from the Oregon State Marine Board for improvements at the Port Ramp on Tillamook Bay. The Marine Board will consider the request at its March 16 meeting in Portland.
The Port of Garibaldi wants to repair the existing ramp and boarding floats. The Port of Garibaldi will stabilize the ground around the ramp and place additional floats next to the ramp. "With this project, boaters and anglers will have a more open launch and retrieval area," says Wayne Shuyler, facilities manager for the Marine Board. The Port of Garibaldi is requesting $119,000 from the Marine Board. The estimated cost of the project is $281,000. Funds for the grant come from state boat title and registration fees and motorboat fuel tax revenues.

ODFW Seeks Cooperative Funding for Boat Ramp
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking cooperative funding from the Oregon State Marine Board to improve the Miller Island Ramp boarding floats and parking area on the Klamath River. The Marine Board will consider the request at its March 16 meeting in Portland.
The Klamath Wildlife Area wants to replace the existing ramp, boarding floats and parking area at the Miller Island Unit. "The existing ramp is short and narrow causing boaters to get stuck in the mud, making this a safety hazard," says Wayne Shuyler, facilities manager for the Marine Board. "Some of the existing floats are cracked and splintered and the gravel parking has drainage problems. Not to mention traffic flow issues for trailering."
The Department of Fish and Wildlife will utilize federal Sport Fish Restoration Funds to match the requested Marine Board grant for a total project cost of $151,000. . Funds for the grant come from state boat title and registration fees and motorboat fuel tax revenues.

State Parks Seeks Grant for Floating Restroom
The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a grant from the Oregon State Marine Board to retrofit a new anchoring system, among other improvements to the floating restroom on the Lost Creek Reservoir in Jackson County. The Marine Board will consider the request at its March 16 meeting in Portland.
The Parks Department wants to improve the restroom's stability and make it easier for boaters to use. The Parks Department is applying for a grant of $15,000. Funds for the grant come from federal Clean Vessel Act and state boat title and registration fees and motorboat fuel tax revenues.

McCuddy's Marina Seeks Grant
McCuddy's Marina is seeking a grant to replace an existing pumpout station located inside the marina on the Columbia River in Portland. The Marine Board will consider the request at its March 16 meeting in Portland.
The Marina is requesting $20,000 for the new pumpout station and related equipment. A large part of the grant would come from federal Clean Vessel Act funds administered by the US Fish and Wildlife Service. The remaining funds come from state boat title and registration fees and motorboat fuel tax revenues.

Lincoln County Seeks Property on Siletz River
Lincoln County is seeking a grant from the Oregon State Marine Board and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) to acquire property on the Siletz River for a future new access site for anglers and boaters. The Marine Board will consider the request at its March 16 meeting in Portland.
The county wants to acquire 18 acres of riverfront property near river mile seven of the Siletz. The county plans to develop the site for day use with a public boat ramp, boarding floats, parking and vault-style toilet. "A dirt ramp at the downstream end of the property is currently being used by many locals as a primitive launch site," says Wayne Shuyler, facilities manager for the Marine Board.
The county is applying for a grant of $94,000. ODFW grants come from the federal Sport Fish Restoration program for motorboat access, made possible by federal marine fuel taxes paid by boaters. Funds for the grant come from state boat title and registration fees and motorboat fuel tax revenues.

Tillamook County Seeks Boating Facility Grants
Tillamook County is seeking grants from the Oregon State Marine Board and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife to replace existing boarding floats at Nehalem Park and dredge around the ramp at Memaloose Park. The Board will consider the request at the March 16 meeting in Portland.
For the first project, the county wants to replace the existing boarding floats at Nehalem Park that are 20 years old. "The floats are splintering and cracking with age and exposure," says Wayne Shuyler, facilities manager with the Marine Board. "The floats have lost their buoyancy and are a potential safety hazard to people." The county hopes to use existing piling and would the wood boarding floats with current designs.
The county also wants to dredge around the ramp at Memaloose Park. "There's less than six inches of water at half-tide," says Shuyler. "This creates a safety and usability issue for boaters trying to use this popular fishing area." The estimated cost of the dredging is $54,588. Funds for the grant come from state boat title and registration fees and motorboat fuel tax revenues. ODFW grants are from the federal Sport Fish Restoration program for motorboat access, which comes from federal marine fuel taxes.
