Input Sought for Proposed Rule Change on Lake Billy Chinook
The Oregon State Marine Board is now accepting written public comment on a proposed rule change for Lake Billy Chinook.
The proposed rule change expands the slow-no-wake zones to include heavily used areas adjacent to the ramps at the upper and lower Deschutes day use areas and the Crooked River day use area on Lake Billy Chinook.
The proposed change was requested to help improve safety for people recreating in these increasingly congested areas. A public meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 18 at 7 p.m. in Madras, at the County Commission Office located at 66 SE D Street.
Written comments on the revised rule are welcome, but must be received by Wednesday, May 31. Comments can be sent to Randy Henry, OSMB, PO Box 14145, Salem, OR 97309. They can also be sent via email to randy.h.henry at state.or.us, or via fax (503) 378-4597. Comments via telephone cannot be accepted.
