Input Sought for Proposed Rule Change on Brownlee Reservoir

The Oregon State Marine Board is now accepting written public comment on a proposed rule change to expand the slow-no-wake zone adjacent to Hewitt Park on the Powder River arm of Brownlee Reservoir.

The proposed change was requested by the Baker County Parks and Recreation Department to help protect boats that tie up to shoreline rocks due to limited moorage facilities and to improve safety for people recreating in this increasingly congested area.

A public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 24, at 7 p.m. in Baker City, at the Baker County Courthouse located at 1995 3rd Street.

Written comments on the revised rule are welcome, but must be received by Wednesday, May 31. Comments can be sent to Paul Donheffner, OSMB, PO Box 14145, Salem, OR 97309. They can also be sent via email to paul.donheffner at state.or.us, or via fax (503) 378-4597. Comments via telephone cannot be accepted.
