Marine Board Honors U.S. Fish and Wildlife Employee

The Oregon State Marine Board recognized Jerry Novotny, Chief of the Fisheries Section, Region One of the US Fish and Wildlife Service, with the Professional Service Award.  The award was given during the Marine Board's bi-annual Facilities Grant Workshop in Salem, January 30.
	
The award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions in improving boating access and facilities over an extended period of time. 
	
Novotny has worked for the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service for 41 years, including 24 years in fisheries research and 18 years in the Region One Federal Assistance Office.  He is currently the Chief of the Fisheries Section that administers the Clean Vessel Act, Hunter and Aquatic Education, Technical Assistance, Fisheries Restoration, Irrigation Mitigation, Boating Infrastructure and Sports Fish Motorboat Access grants.  
	
For Oregon, his work has translated into millions of dollars in federal grants.  Novotny is nationally known for his grants management expertise and providing the highest level of customer service in a friendly and professional manner. "Oregon has truly benefited from this one man's efforts to improve boating facilities," said Wayne Shuyler, Boating Facilities Program Manager for the Marine Board.
