Malheur County Marine Patrol Receive High Recognition

The Oregon State Marine Board honored marine law enforcement officers from around the state for their outstanding performance and contributions during the 2008 boating season at their annual post-season conference on October 14, in Bend.
The Malheur County Marine Patrol was honored with two awards; Education Award of Excellence and a Special Instructor Award.
Deputy Anthony Hackman was recognized for his exhaustive effort into the boating and water safety school education program. "Deputy Hackman well deserves the Education Award for conducting 46 school education programs," said Dale Flowers, Law Enforcement Coordinator for the Marine Board. "He effectively taught 1,643 children how to be safe in and around the water. Deputy Hackman had a huge impact on these children. With school curriculums getting more and more packed, his ability to teach in this many classrooms is an enormous accomplishment," Flowers added.
Sergeant Brad Williams was also recognized with a Special Instructor Award for his outstanding skill in training other marine law enforcement personnel at the Marine Board's drift and jet boat schools. "Sergeant Williams always goes the extra mile. He can see what a student needs and work with them until a skill becomes second nature," Flowers commented. "Sergeant Williams works tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure the most current and comprehensive information is covered during law enforcement training."
