Marine Board Meeting at Portland Expo Center

The Oregon State Marine Board will consider a petition to restrict motor boat use on the South Fork Coquille River in Coos County at their quarterly meeting, January 6, 2009, at the Portland Expo Center. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m.
The Marine Board received a petition from residents and anglers who fish on or live near the South Fork of the Coquille River in Coos County. Petitioners requested a section of river from Broadbent, near Myrtle Creek, to the Forest Service boundary south of Powers, be closed to motors. Petitioners cited crowding on the river, growing conflict between powerboat and bank anglers and a concern that private land access to the river would be lost if nothing was done to address the conflict.
Other items on the Board agenda include general reports and updates on agency administration, law enforcement, facilities, education and outreach, and the State's Clean Marina Program. A presentation by the Multnomah County Marine Patrol Enforcement program will also be provided.
The meeting will be held in Room D 204 at the Portland Metro Expo Center, 2060 North Marine Drive. The meeting will begin promptly at 9 a.m. The meeting is being held in a facility that is accessible for persons with disabilities. For reasonable accommodations, please contact the Director's Office five days in advance of the meeting at (503) 378-2617.
