[OSMB-News] Marine Board's 2011 Boating Safety Media Kit

Next weekend is National Safe Boating Week (May 21-28) followed by Memorial Day weekend.  This is the time of year when the nice weather lures people to the water and it's important to remind folks about what they need to think about and how to go -prepared.

That's why the Marine Board prepared a hand-full of boating safety press releases in hopes you will run a story about life jackets and boating sober.  These are two of the main contributing factors to water and boating related accidents and fatalities in Oregon.  Try a local spin and contact your county marine patrol.  They are a wealth of information about area navigation hazards, how to self-rescue, and local conditions that impact boaters.  Many marine patrol deputies will also provide a ride-along to reporters.

Please help us kick of the traditional boating season right; help us get the word out so our waterways stay safe, well into the summer months.
