Marine Board Approves Grant for Port of Umatilla

      The Port of Umatilla received a grant from the Oregon State Marine Board to replace the existing marine sewage pumpout and dump station. The Marine Board approved the grant at its quarterly Board meeting on April 11, in Springfield.
      Located in Umatilla County on the upper end of Lake Umatilla, the Port provides access to all types of boating on the Columbia River. The Port operates a public launch ramp as well as a marina with fuel.  The existing marine sewage pumpout and dump stations, located on the fuel dock, have reached the end of their useful life. The proposed improvements will provide boaters with dependable equipment to dispose of boat waste.
      The Port of Umatilla was awarded $25,500 in federal Clean Vessel Act funds and $8,500 in state boater funds which will be combined with $3,000 in-kind contribution by the Port. The projected total cost is $37,000.
