               Picture this...your boat is on the trailer, equipment and food loaded and you're ready to go.  Then you realize your boat decals are expired.  Then you think, "Where did I put my boater education card?"  Or if you're a paddler, "What did I do with my invasive species permit for the canoe?"  Excitement about the weekend has now turned to dread, and its Friday afternoon.
            To make things easier, the Marine Board is extending office hours to 5:30 p.m. on Fridays beginning May 11 through July 6.  The exception is May 25, which is a state furlough, so the office will be open until 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 24.  Since the July 4th holiday is always popular for boating and all state offices are closed, the Marine Board office will stay open until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3.
            "Meeting boaters' needs is a top priority," says Janess Eilers, Titling and Registration Manager for the Marine Board.  "Compliance with rules and regulations is a must and it's our job to help educate and provide boaters information and quick service so they can enjoy their time out on the water."
            The Marine Board is funded by boat titling and registration fees, federal gas tax and other federal grants.  Eighty-six percent of every dollar is returned back to boaters in the form of boating facilities, law enforcement, education/outreach and environmental programs, like the aquatic invasive species prevention program.
