New Boat to the Rescue for Lincoln County Marine Patrol

Lincoln County Sheriff's Office will soon have a new patrol boat to help marine law enforcement [cid:image002.jpg at 01CF83FB.FC8924F0] patrolling the county's coastal rivers, lakes and Pacific Ocean. The Marine Board recently helped procure a 22-foot, full cabin boat, manufactured by River Wild, located in Grants Pass, Oregon.
This boat replaces a 1982 Monark and a 1997 safe boat. The safe boat's motor, a 225 horse power Yamaha outboard, will now power the River Wild boat, with a cost savings of nearly $10,000. With the Monark trade in for $14,500, combined with $54,998 of additional funds helped purchase the River Wild boat for a total cost of $69,498.
This new patrol boat is designed for all weather conditions and is equipped with the most modern electronics, air suspension seats, diesel heater, extra-large fuel tank, spot lights, additional hull protection, and an axillary motor. River Wild also gave the Marine Board a lifetime warranty on the hull. The new patrol boat will be able to assist boaters in need in most ocean conditions and severe weather.
The average age of the current Marine Board boat fleet statewide is 15 years. The Marine Board developed a procurement and retention schedule similar those used for law enforcement vehicles and is retiring older boats with newer models that require less fuel and maintenance.
