Multnomah County River Patrol Trades Old Boat for New

              The Multnomah County River Patrol now has a new patrol boat to help marine law enforcement patrolling the Columbia and Willamette Rivers.  The Marine Board recently helped procure a 22-foot, aluminum hull jet boat, manufactured by Rogue Jet Boat Works, located in White City, Oregon.
            The Rogue Jet boat comes equipped with a
6.0 L fuel injected motor, rubber hybrid foam air collar, extra-large fuel tank, gun locker, wireless intercom system, and a reinforced bottom and transom designed for shallow water operations.  This boat will serve boaters for many years to come and has much more versatility for a variety of weather and water level conditions.
            The new boat replaces a 1995 fiberglass Sea Sport with a trade in value of $27,700, combined with $55,000 in state boater funds and $7,150 from the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office for a total cost of $89,850.
The average age of the current Marine Board boat fleet statewide is 15 years.  The Marine Board developed a procurement and retention schedule similar those used for law enforcement vehicles and is retiring older boats with newer models that require less fuel and maintenance.
