Marine Board Seeks Public Comment on Slow-No Wake Rule in Clatsop County

         The Oregon State Marine Board seeks public comment on a petition requesting the Board open rulemaking for certain waterways in Clatsop County.
            The existing rule prohibits the operation of a motorboat at a speed in excess of 5-mph on the Skipanon waterway.  The petitioner is requesting the speed restriction be removed from the area north of the Hampton Mill to the confluence of the Columbia River and the 5-mph designation be amended to read, "slow-no wake."  Additionally, the petitioner proposes "5 mph" be replaced by "slow-no wake" on:

*       the John Day River within 200 feet of a houseboat;

*       Knappa Slough within 200 feet of the Knappa Dock; and

*       Warren Slough;

*       Svensen Slough between the Svensen Island Bridge and Bear Creek, as marked.

Written comments will be accepted until 5 pm on Wednesday, December 7.  Submit written comments to osmb.rulemaking at state.or.us<mailto:osmb.rulemaking at state.or.us> or June LeTarte, Rules Coordinator at 435 Commercial St. NE, Salem, OR 97301.  Comments by telephone will not be accepted.
