RESEND FOR 2004 DUE TO REPEATED QUESTIONS:

We've had versions of this question repeatedly since December Run 2
finalized.

Q. When I request a November corrective, why would you set November P010
dates for someone who's not terming?

I'll give the answer, but I want to pose some questions for you before I do.
Perhaps in answering these questions you will know the answer to the above
question before I give it.

1. When you set a corrective throughout the year, what date gets printed on
the pay stub?
2. When you set P010 dates throughout the year (provided you set them
before the month closes), what date gets printed on the pay stub?

In case you didn't know, the answer to #1 is "the next pay day", and the
answer to #2 is "the final check date on the P010".

So given the above two questions/answers, can you figure out why at year-end
November P010 dates need to be set for November correctives?

Still don't know? Let me step you through it:

1. If a November corrective is set without P010 dates, the date on the
corrective set will be "the next pay day", which is January 1, 2005.

2. "So what" you say? Well because November has never been paid in 2005
(because it was paid in 2003), the system will think it needs to pay
EVERYTHING, not just what it didn't pay in 2004. The employee gets two full
November checks.

That makes the answer to the initial question:

A. Setting November P010 dates (remember the answer to #2?) forces the
system to re-calc the month into the proper year (2004) so the employee does
not get paid in 2005.

I know it's long-winded, but I felt it would be easier to remember WHY you
need to do something rather than us just saying "Do it because we say so".
