MESSAGE FROM EVA CORBIN, DAS LABOR RELATIONS:
This is a clarification to address the $350 Workload Adjustment Payment
for an employee whose status changes during qualifying period.
Question: An employee was in full-time status until e.g.,
November 30, 2004 and then part-time beginning , e.g., December 1,
2004, what payment is the employee eligible to receive?
Answer: The eligibility period would be the same as for
full-time employees, which has been calculated at 18 months. This
calculation yields a monthly value of $19.44 for the workload payment.
In this example, the employee would receive the full $19.44 for 17
months plus a prorated amount for December. The prorated amount to be
determined based on the ratio of part-time hours to what full-time hours
are--e.g., if she works half-time she would get half of $19.44, which is
$9.72.
If during the qualifying period, the employee moves from
part-time to full-time status, reverse the calculation from pro-rate
for part time hours worked to the full $19.44 per month payment for work
in full time status.
The lump sum payment amount will vary depending upon when the
status change occurs during the qualifying period.
