Forwarding the following message from Denise Hall:
PERS recently made some changes to the Retirement Information Management
System, better known as RIMS. This system has been used by agencies in
the past to research new employees' retirement plan eligibility and/or
status. The centralized PERS administration team also used the RIMS to
research eligibility and status issues. RIMS is no longer available for
this purpose.
Agencies will need to call the PERS employer/employee customer call
center at 1-888-320-7377 to request assistance with determining whether
a newly hired employee is already an active member of PERS or a
returning retiree. I know this will take more time for many of you, as
well as the team here at DAS/HRSD. We will be working closely with PERS
to try to identify a more efficient way to ensure the information you
need to set up new employees appropriately in the PPDB and the OSPA is
available and accessible.
Please pass this notice to any employee(s) in your agency who may have
used RIMS for this purpose.
