OSPS is passing on the following message from Denise Hall, DAS HRSD.

Subject: FW: OPSRP Pension Program 2005 Annual Statements

I wanted to forward a recent message I received from PERS announcing
that the 2005 Oregon Public Service Retirement Plan (OPSRP) statements
are about to be mailed out.

Moving to a centralized PERS reporting and reconciliation process
appears to have been beneficial for-the-most-part. However, it has
limited the amount of information agencies have available to them to
answer employee inquiries. We are prepared to assist you in responding
to the questions we anticipate will be coming in over the next several
weeks as the 2005 OPSRP statements reach your employees.

Many of the questions will require a review of the information reported
through the new jClarety retirement system and/or explanation of how the
system is currently handling a few of the appointment types (e.g.,
seasonals) which were impacted by legislation last session. Our
staffing available to respond to individual inquiries is quite limited.
We are asking for your help in coordinating these efforts.

If you get a call from an employee questioning the salary information on
his or her statement, or membership in the OPSRP, please get the
employee's name and telephone number and then e-mail that name and
telephone number to your agency's assigned centralized PERS Specialist.
I am attaching the agency assignments in case you can't remember who is
assigned to your agency and to provide you with a quick link to the
appropriate e-mail address. If you identify the "Subject" as "2005
OPSRP" and list the employee name and telephone number in the body of
the e-mail, it will allow Debbie and Jannel to quickly identify these
priority e-mails and minimize the amount of time you or your staff must
devote to this process.

Also, please assure each employee that a centralized PERS Specialist
will contact him or her to get more information and/or answer his or her
question(s). Either Debbie or Jannel will contact the employee to
discuss his or her questions, answer the questions, and/or research the
issue and get back to the employee. It is our goal to contact the
employee during the same workday that we receive the e-mail from you to
find out the details of his or her question and either answer the
question or begin the required research.

I hope this process works well for you, your agency, and your employees.
If you have any questions or concerns, give me a call. Thank you.

Dear PERS employer,

OPSRP Pension Program 2005 Annual Statements will be mailed to members
at their address on file with PERS from September 11-15, 2006.

The statement reminds OPSRP members that the Pension Program does not
have an account balance. An OPSRP Pension Program members retirement
benefit is based on retirement credit x final average salary x a factor
set by statute (1.5 percent for general service; 1.8 percent for Police
and Fire). The statement also asks members to contact their employer(s)
if they believe information is incorrect on the statement.

If you have questions about this or any PERS-related topic, please
e-mail: pers-employer.info.services at state.or.us

Best regards,

PERS Employer Relations Team
