Subject: [hrmgr-net] Young W-2s -- UPDATE
Yesterday I sent out a message regarding how to handle W-2s for Young
claimants that are being returned as undeliverable. You can still have
all of the Young-related W-2s sent to me, however, I will not be
forwarding the W-2s to the plaintiffs' attorney. I received word from
the tax law expert at the AG's office that employers are required to
hold returned W-2s for up to 4 years and the responsibility for
requesting the W-2 lies with the taxpayer.
I will be sending a list of the individuals who have had their W-2s
returned to the plaintiffs' attorney and will wait for either the
attorney or the claimant to provide a current/accurate address and then
we'll send the W-2 along to the individual. If you receive calls
regarding missing W-2s for any Young claimant, you can direct that
individual to me as well. Thanks!!!!!
