OSPS is forwarding the following message from PEBB.

________________________________

IMPORTANT NOTICE

For

SEASONAL AND INTERMITTENT STATE EMPLOYEES

Please distribute this message to all HR and Payroll Staff in your
agency

Beginning in 2008, PEBB will no longer offer short and long term
disability enrollment to otherwise eligible seasonal and intermittent
employees. The Board determined that the cost of premiums for this group
of employees outweighs the potential benefit they could receive.

How is PEBB notifying these individuals of the change?

PEBB is mailing two notices.

*	Seasonal and intermittent employees currently enrolled in these
benefit options: (see attached Notice 1). The notice explains the change
and includes a termination form for those who wish to stop this
enrollment before the end of the year.

*	Seasonal and intermittent employees not currently enrolled in
these benefit options: (see attached Notice 2). The notice also explains
the change and advises them that they cannot enroll for this option when
they return to work in 2008 or during Open Enrollment.

What does this mean to you?

Agency: At any time during the remainder of the year, these employees
may send you the completed form to terminate this coverage. Please
complete the termination in the month you receive the form and notify
the individual of the end date.

PEBB will terminate all Short and Long Term Disability coverage for
seasonal and intermittent employees on December 31, 2007.

How will PEBB ensure new and returning seasonal employees don't enroll
in the future?

PEBB is changing pebb.benefits for the 2008 plan year. PDB will not show
the disability enrollment option for seasonal and intermittent
employees. PEBB is also adding this information to the 2008 benefits
handbook, the Web site and to the Life and Disability enrollment form.

What if you get calls or inquiries?

If asked, PEBB appreciates your help in explaining why the Board ended
this coverage. If employees ask you about other options, there currently
is none available to this classification. PEBB staff will continue to
investigate possibilities for the future. You may also refer the
individuals to PEBB for answers.

What if you have questions?

If you have questions about this action or its implementation, please
e-mail inquiries.pebb at state.or.us or call a PEBB Benefit Analyst at PEBB
503-373-1102.
