[Announcements from OSPS to the users of the Oregon State Payroll Application]

To State Agency Payroll Professionals:

Wage and hour laws can be confusing, and even inadvertent errors by employers can prove costly.  OSPS is excited to sponsor an intensive half-day seminar that will focus on state and federal wage and hour regulations that most directly affect state agency payroll professionals. It will be taught by Joseph Tam, Program Coordinator, Technical Assistance for Employers, BOLI.

Specific topics will include:

  *   Overtime
  *   Exempt and non-exempt employees
  *   Final paychecks
  *   Timekeeping and recordkeeping
  *   Lawful deductions
  *   Your wage and hour law questions!

NOTE:  Although this topic intersects the payroll process at a number of points, the focus of the class is on wage and hour laws and will not extend to taxation, garnishment and other reporting requirement issues.

The class is March 18, 2013, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm in the Basement Conference Room A, Public Service Building, Salem.
