OSPS E-News ~ New IW Pay Code

Happy Friday,

OSPS has added a new pay code for inclement weather/building closures, IW.  Please see statewide policy and your agency's applicable CBA(s) for details on this code's application and use.

Items to note regarding this code and its usage in OSPA:


1.       IW hours do not count as time worked for purposes of overtime calculation (similar to sick leave in SEIU CBA).

2.       The system will not prevent an employee from recording more than half a day.  (For example an employee could enter 8 hours of IW when they should only per policy/CBA enter 4 hours of IW.)

3.       When the IW pay code is used it will show up as a negative leave balance similar to GL, FL and PR.


Items 1 & 2 will require manual monitoring by payroll staff and managers, so please keep this in mind when employees use this code.
