I hope you all will encourage your trustees to attend the Oregon
Library Association Conference in Portland on April 6-8 and perhaps
even support their attendance. I wanted to point out to you that I am
doing a program on Friday at the conference that will provide a basic
overview of public library trusteeship in Oregon. Here is the blurb
from the online conference program. I hope to see some of you there:

Public Library Boards 101
Friday, April 8, 11 - 12:30 p.m.

Jim Scheppke, State Librarian

Learn some basic information about how you can be a more effective
board member for your library. This program is targeted at citizens who
have recently been appointed to public library boards and public
library directors who may want to use the PowerPoint presentation to
provide orientation to their new board members. New public library
trustees will learn some basics about Oregon public library history,
public library law, and the roles and responsibilities of public
library trustees in Oregon. A Q&A and sharing session will follow the
presentation.
