Plan Ahead for Start of School - Temp Driver Requests
In late August and early September, there is a dramatic increase in the number of school bus applications and temporary driver requests.  In order to assist you with a smooth first day of school, please be aware of the following:

*         Standard processing time is three days from when a school bus application is received in our office



*         Processing of temporary driver forms may take up to 48 hours during this time of increased volume



*         Submitting a temporary driver form together with the school bus application through secure file transfer<https://district.ode.state.or.us/apps/xfers/> to buslicense at ode.state.or.us<mailto:buslicense at ode.state.or.us> increases efficiency and improves turn-around times; do not send these forms to individual staff.  First day of school planning:

o   In order to ensure that you receive a response to a temporary driver request for August 27th, we must receive the temporary request by noon on Thursday, August 23th

o   In order to ensure that you receive a response to a temporary driver request for September 3rd, we must receive the temporary request by noon on Thursday, August 30th

o   For all other starting dates, remember there is a 48-hour turnaround time



*         There is no temporary process for activity vehicle drivers.  Processing times will remain at 5-10 business days during the start-up window.



*         All other processing will be delayed as we ensure certified school bus and activity drivers for school start-up.
