The mailing notifying you that your Ready to Read Grant application was accepted or denied went out in the mail last Thursday and Friday. I have already spoken with the directors at the libraries that are listed as not receiving a 2015 Ready to Read Grant so there should be no surprises. Please remember that these libraries may appeal the decision. If they do and are successful, then the amount of money your library receives will be slightly less than what is listed on the chart you will receive in the mail (unless you receive the minimum grant which is always $1,000). You will also find in the mailing the 2013-2014 Ready to Read Grant report form and an addendum to the report form explaining new data libraries will be asked to collect in 2015. This is just intended to be your first introduction to this change so you know what is going on when you get more information about the new data and support for collecting/reporting the new data in the future. I have attached electronic copies of the 2013-2014 Ready to Read Grant report form and addendum for your convenience. The 2013-2014 Ready to Read Grant Report Form is due at the State Library no later than December 1, 2014. You have two options for submitting the 2013-2014 Ready to Read Grant Report Form: 1. Complete and mail or fax the form to Ferol Weyand at the State Library, 250 Winter St. NE, Salem, OR 97301 2. Message-ID: <640435851FD7CB4AB3C4BE0D1963BA24529181A4@OSLEXCHANGE.osl.state.or.us.local> Hi! As you know, 2014 Ready to Read final reports are due December 1, 2014. Attached is the report form is you need it. Question: What information are you looking for in questions #3 "How did you know participants achieved or did not achieve these outcomes? (i.e. describe your evaluation and results.)" Answer: First, briefly describe how you evaluated your project. Here are some examples: * Once a month I documented in a notebook my observations about how well kids in storytime seemed to be learning early literacy skills. * At each weekly summer reading activity I took photos to document family engagement. * We distributed a survey to everyone at the end of summer reading party. Second, briefly describe the results of your evaluation. Here are some examples: * Looking through my observation notebook, I noticed that as the year went on more and more kids were able to complete rhymes, identify some letters by name, and draw more detailed pictures. However not as many kids were able to retell a simple story in chronological order. * Looking back through the pictures, I notice that most people attended contracted performances with family members, but most kids participated in the staff-led activities without adults or older siblings. * 30 completed surveys were returned. 12 said their child read more, 12 said their child read the same amount, and 6 said their child read less than usual as a result of participating in the summer reading program. Please let me know if you have any more questions. Message-ID: <640435851FD7CB4AB3C4BE0D1963BA24529190EC@OSLEXCHANGE.osl.state.or.us.local> Hi! As you know, 2014 Ready to Read final reports are due December 1, 2014. Attached is the report form if you need it. Question: Do we report for the fiscal year 2013-2014 or calendar year 2014. Answer: Report on calendar year 2014. You received your 2013-2014 Ready to Read Grant funds by January 1, 2014 and you have until December 31, 2014 to spend them so that is the timeframe you report on. The purpose of the Ready to Read Grant final report is for you to tell the State Library how you used state funding and how people in your community were impacted by state funding. I will compile all your final reports into the Ready to Read Annual Report to tell the Legislature how state funding was used and how Oregonians benefited from state funding. Please let me know if you have any questions. Question: Is there a list online with the actual amount of Ready to Read Grant money we received last year? Answer: Yes, here is the direct link to the document you need for 2014: http://www.oregon.gov/osl/LD/youthsvcs/ReadytoRead/2_ProjectDescriptions12pgs.pdf. For future reference, the actual amount of money you received are always included in the 'Project Descriptions' document online here: http://www.oregon.gov/osl/LD/Pages/youthsvcs/aboutready.aspx#Project_Descriptions Katie Anderson, Library Support and Development Services * Youth Services Consultant * Oregon Center for the Book Coordinator * Oregon State Library, 250 Winter St. NE, Salem, OR 97301 katie.anderson at state.or.us, 503-378-2528 [StoryTime_GrandeRonde.png] Become a StORytime partner! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
