Hello everyone,

We've made it through the first week of October!  In Salem, leaves are falling now faster than I can rake them up. I hope wherever you are, you are also enjoying the beauty of this shift in seasons.

A lot of you have done some great banned books/freedom to read work this week and we certainly appreciate that! I only have one link to share today, it's a newspaper article from Jefferson County Library District Director Jane Ellen Innes<https://madraspioneer.com/2025/10/02/why-do-we-need-the-library/>, who shared a summary of the library's work over the past year. The thing that struck me most is the part about the work we do that people can see and the work we do that people don't see. There's so much behind-the-scenes work others don't see that you all are doing all the time to keep things humming along, and I just wanted to shoutout everyone here for that work!
