Hola Oregon Reformistas!

I have a very specific ask and I'm guessing only a few of you might have suggestions. We are looking for a qualified Latinx candidate to join the Clackamas Community College (CCC) Board<https://www.clackamas.edu/about-us/leadership/clackamas-community-college-board-of-education>.

The ask: Can you personally suggest a specific candidate who meets the below criteria?

Requirements:

* The person must be a resident of Zone 5 (West Linn and Wilsonville).

*         Application forms<https://www.clackamas.edu/docs/default-source/about-us/board-of-education/board-of-education-application-zone-5-vacancy.pdf?sfvrsn=bb248068_0> are due July 30.

Backstory:
A Board member at Clackamas Community College is stepping aside from her position with the specific purpose of making room for a person of color as the college works on implementing the DEI plan they approved in June. It would be fantastic if the interested Board candidate represented the rapidly growing Latinx community of Wilsonville.

Desired qualifications:

* Someone who has the (life and/or educational) experience, confidence, and vision to serve successfully on a college board.

* Someone prepared to serve out the remaining 3 years of a 4-year term, and then ideally run for the position again as the incumbent.

* Someone interested in working to assure that community colleges are an accessible, affordable pathway to college, career, and family wage jobs.

* A person of color, ideally someone Latinx from Wilsonville who can offer a perspective representing the local community.

The position:

* The minimum time commitment is one evening meeting a month; meetings typically last about 3 hours.

* The appointment would be made by the Board based on applications; forms<https://www.clackamas.edu/docs/default-source/about-us/board-of-education/board-of-education-application-zone-5-vacancy.pdf?sfvrsn=bb248068_0> are due July 30. There are 3 years left on this term. After that, ideally the appointee would run for the position as the incumbent.

* It's a meaningful leadership and personal growth opportunity.

Do you know anyone who would be a great candidate for this role? The Board member who is stepping aside, Betty Reynolds, would love to talk with them about this opportunity. Please send specific names our way if you've got any (ASAP!). Ms. Reynolds (copied on this email) can answer any questions about this request.

Gracias!
Deborah
