Practitioners with Amnesty Clients:

Due to the higher than expected response to the Oregon's first-ever tax amnesty program, we are experiencing some delays in getting appropriate penalty and interest waivers completed as timely as we would have liked. As a result, some taxpayers may have received automatic notices showing full penalty and interest being due. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused.

The department has shifted resources to process these waivers as quickly as possible but because of the manual nature of this process, it may take another 2-3 weeks to complete. If you client received an amnesty acceptance letter from the department, filed corresponding tax returns on or before January 19, 2010, and paid the tax and ½ interest due, the taxpayer will receive the appropriate amnesty waivers and no response is necessary. However, if you have specific concerns about a particular taxpayer, please call us at 503-378-4988. Please do not reply to this email.

Thank you for your patience.
