From Marcus.Cridge at oregon.gov Mon Oct 12 13:05:43 2015 From: Marcus.Cridge at oregon.gov (CRIDGE Marcus * DOR) Date: Mon, 12 Oct 2015 20:05:43 +0000 Subject: [Revenews] Transition to new computer system. Message-ID: As you may have heard, the Department of Revenue is transitioning to a new computer system. We'll be adjusting our processes over the next few months to get ready. If you're filing a personal income tax return for your clients between now and December, there may be some differences in your filing experience because of the transition. We've already started holding amended paper returns and we'll start holding original paper returns. These returns will be processed in our new computer system on December 1. We encourage you to file all types of returns as early as possible to avoid any delays. We'll continue to acknowledge and process e-filed returns until the IRS closes the e-filing system in late November. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The kicker is a refundable tax credit you can claim on your 2015 Oregon personal income tax return. To determine your credit amount, multiply your 2014 tax liability before credits, excluding credit for taxes paid to another state, by 5.6 percent. To receive the kicker you must file a 2015 return, even if you're not otherwise required to do so. We will have a "What's my kicker" calculator available online before filing season begins. Please encourage taxpayers who don't have access to their 2014 returns to visit our website in January-www.oregon.gov/dor-for help calculating their kicker credit. If your filing status changed between the 2014 and 2015 tax years, see the 2015 personal income tax return form and instructions for information on calculating your credit. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Not all vendors will be supporting electronic filing of these returns so please contact your software vendor to make sure they are supporting the electronic filing. Another exciting change beginning December 1st, you will be able to electronically submit the Form OR-19, Pass-Through Entity Owner Payments, through Revenue Online. Look for the link to Revenue Online at www.oregon.gov/dor. Electronic filing is a fast, efficent, and accurate way to file. Electronically filed returns require fewer manual steps to process compared to paper returns; therefore, the return is processed faster than paper returns. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... As of December 1, 2015, estate and fiduciary tax programs will move to the new system. This means a few things for estate and fiduciary taxpayers and their representatives: * E-filing will be available. This process will make filing easier for taxpayers and tax professionals and allow for faster return processing. * The new system will change the appearance of some of the letters you're used to receiving from us. Please review any mail carefully and contact us directly if you have questions. * You can manage estate and fiduciary tax accounts through Revenue Online. Revenue Online accounts aren't just for individual taxpayers. Third parties, such as attorneys, accountants, or others representing taxpayers, can view and manage all of their clients' information through one account. It's easy to sign up for an account through Revenue Online. Head to our website, www.oregon.gov/dor, for more information or to sign up. To learn how Revenue Online can help you better serve your clients, check out our FAQ for third parties.
