The Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) has an exceptional opportunity for an experienced leader to serve as their Board's Executive Director.   The Executive Director is appointed by and reports directly to the nine member OSBN Board.  The Executive Director is responsible for the overall direction of the agency in supporting the Board's mission of public safety; and successful implementation and execution of Board policy.  The Executive Director, as directed by the Board, will act as the senior executive, primary communicator to external constituencies, and strategic planner.  This is a permanent, full-time, executive service position located in Tualatin, Oregon.  If you are hired, you will become part of the State's Executive Service team.

The Oregon State Board of Nursing safeguards the public's health and well-being by providing guidance for, and regulation of, entry into the profession, nursing education and continuing safe practice.   There are over 70,000 licensees under the jurisdiction of the Board:  Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nurse Anesthetists, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Certified Nursing Assistants and Certified Medication Aides.  The quality of nursing care in Oregon is directly affected by the licensure criteria set by the Board, by its diligence in ensuring that every candidate meets these criteria, and by its persistence in enforcing the regulations under which licensees practice.  The Board's investigation of the more than 800 conduct complaints it receives each year, its monitoring of practitioners under disciplinary action, and its proactive efforts support the Board's mission of public safety.   The Board prepares and manages a $14 million biennium budget and there are 48 full time employees on staff. The Board is involved with numerous professional organizations on the county, state, and national level and works closely with professional organizations to address issues affecting healthcare professions.

This position requires four years of management experience related to nursing, healthcare administration, health care regulation or a similar field.  Graduate level course work in management may be substituted for one year of the required experience. The salary is $73,632 - $108,612/Year plus benefits.
