Here's a reminder and a confirmation of the location for our February meeting.

The topic this month is Jython, presented by Charles Anderson.

Abstract
The topic of the talk is Jython, which is Python implemented in Java. We will begin by presenting an overview and introduction to the Python programming language and the general concept of scripting or extension languages to integrate larger software projects written in other languages. We will then discuss how Jython can be used to script Java classes to leverage existing Java code. We will conclude by mentioning other scripting languages that can be used with Java.

Bio
Charles Anderson is an independent software consultant and an assistant professor of computer science at Western Oregon University. He has 24 years of experience in the software industry, working for start-up firms, as well as larger companies, in Silicon Valley and abroad. Although he has worked on a wide range of projects from firmware to finance, his real passion lies in systems and infrastructure programming including networking, databases, and tools. He currently lives and works on a small farm outside of Monmouth, Oregon.
