Message from Bret West, Assistant Superintendent of Finance &
Administration and Nancy Latini, Assistant Superintendent of Student
Learning & Partnerships -- 
We regret to inform you that there was an error in the data provided by
ODE to Tricia Duncan, representative of the firm that conducts annual
special education expenditure MOE audits. Specifically, the ESD Direct
Support Maintenance of Effort amounts provided to the auditor were
incorrect. Please disregard the Maintenance of Effort confirmation
letter you recently received. To date approximately 98 districts
received a letter.
Tricia Duncan has  informed us that she will begin recalculations as
soon as possible, based on the new information. ODE is aware that your
auditors are asking for these letters to assure Maintenance of Effort
has been reached for the 2003-04 fiscal year. The Office of Student
Learning & Partnerships will send out revised letters to Superintendents
immediately after this work is completed.
We apologize, in advance, for any inconvenience to you. Please know that
corrective action is already in process.
