RE:	2005-2006 County Contacts

The Oregon Department of Education: Office of Student Learning and
Partnerships (OSL&P) is pleased to provide you with the attached list of
staff contacts by county for the 2005-2006 school year.

OSL& P Education Specialists serve as "County/Program Contacts" for
assigned counties in the state. The County/Program Contact serves as a
primary connection to the Office of Student Learning & Partnerships for
districts, parents, and agencies from the county. The County/Program
Contact is available to help answer questions about the IDEA, and to
support local special education improvement efforts. Primarily, the
County/Program Contacts provide access to and dissemination of
information and resources, as appropriate. The County/Program Contacts
support county/program capacity to meet students' special education
needs and support staff and parent needs for timely and accurate
information and resources.

Many Specialists will be attending the Fall Administrators Conference
from September 19-21, 2005 in Eugene. We encourage you to touch base
with your county contact if you are attending, and to contact them as
often as needed throughout the school year.

We look forward to working closely with you in pursuit of an highly
successful school year.

SLP County/Program Contacts - Revised September 2005

SLP County/Program Contact Role

SLP Specialists serve as "County/Program Contacts" for assigned counties
in the state. The County/Program Contact serves as a primary connection
to the Office of Student Learning & Partnerships for districts, parents,
and agencies from the county. The County/Program Contact is available
to help answer questions about the IDEA, and to support local special
education improvement efforts. Primarily, the County/Program Contacts
provide access to and dissemination of information and resources, as
appropriate. The County/Program Contacts support county/program
capacity to meet students' special education needs and support staff and
parent needs for timely and accurate information and resources.

Expectations for a County/Program Contact:

(1)	To be familiar with the special education directors and programs
in the county/program area.

(2)	To be a source of information for those programs by (a) being
familiar with training needs and (b) assisting with locating possible
resources.

(3)	To be knowledgeable about the special education performance
review and improvement status of the districts/programs and assist, as
needed, with the compliance response plan and the district/program
improvement plan.

(4)	To be a resource and contact for the area on a case-by-case
basis when requested.

Each specialist has about 11 days/year (.05 FTE) allocated for this
role. This should allow for 1-2 regional meetings or workshops (rather
than individual school district workshops) per school year. In most
cases, county/program support will be provided by telephone.

All county contacts can be reached at 503-378-3600. The list below also
provides the direct phone extension of each county contact.
