Another Opportunity to Advise: 
Educator recruitment for participation in a focus group to advise on
development of a statewide assessment for students with Persistent
Learning Difficulties

This notice indicates a second opportunity for focus group
participation.  Please read this updated information.

 

The US Department of Education has awarded a three-year grant to the
states of Minnesota, Ohio and Oregon to fund a collaborative project
aimed at designing an achievement test for students with disabilities.
The project's desired outcome is a new assessment of grade level content
for students with disabilities who have not been able to demonstrate
what they know and can do on state general assessments, and for whom the
current alternate assessment is inappropriate. This assessment will
therefore provide an additional assessment option to the statewide
assessment system. 
  
To make this work effective and produce assessments that are valid and
fair, we first need teachers who are knowledgeable of students with
disabilities to participate in a focus-group discussion that will
recommend: 1) which students are not adequately assessed by the current
assessment system, and 2) what type of assessment questions and formats
are most appropriate for these students. 
 
This second focus group will also be 2 to 3 hours in length, and be held
at six locations across the state on Tuesday February 26th from 1:00 -
3:30pm as a video conference. Substitute costs for your absence and
mileage expenses will be reimbursed by the American Institutes for
Research who manages the project's logistics.

Southern Oregon ESD-Phoenix Garden Room (Talent Office)
Willamette ESD-Superintendent's Conference Room
Umatilla Morrow ESD-Juniper Room
Multnomah ESD-V-Tel Room
High Desert ESD-Tamarack Building

Jefferson ESD-V-Tel Room

Thursday February 21st.
