RE: Timeline and Support Documents for 2006-2007 Special Education
Report

The public release date for the second annual Special Education Reports
is Wednesday April 2, 2008. In preparation for that date, I want to
inform you of timelines and documents that may assist you with this
required public reporting.

Timeline

March 10 - March 21: District Preview

Drafts of the 2006-2007 Special Education Reports will be posted on the
secure district site for your preview:
https://district.ode.state.or.us/apps/login/.

You are expected to proof your district's report.

If there are errors, you will click on the "Appeal" button and provide
the details of the correction(s) that the district is suggesting.
However, please be advised that ODE will not change any data that have
been submitted and previously validated by the district.

March 31: Final Special Education Reports Available to Districts

Final pdf versions of the 2006-2007 Special Education Reports will be
available to districts on the secure district site:
https://district.ode.state.or.us/apps/login/.

No changes will be accepted on or after this date.

April 2: Public Release of the 2006-2007 Special Education Report

All district reports will be available to the public on the ODE website.
ODE will send a press release to the media announcing the public
reports.

Support Documents

ODE has developed a new webpage for the posting of the 2006-2007 Special
Education Reports and support documents listed below:
http://www.ode.state.or.us/search/page/?id=1744.

1. A sample of this year's report template is posted now for your
planning purposes. ODE will produce each district's report in English
and Spanish.

2. ODE has developed a Technical Manual that you will find helpful
in calculating and validating your data. The manual is available now at
the link above.

3. In addition, ODE has developed a "How-to-Read" the Special
Education Reports for your use in communicating this information to
parents and community members. The English "How-to-Read" document is
available now at the link above. The Spanish version will be posted in
the next month.

For additional information, please contact the mailbox via email at
ODE.SchoolAgeRpt at state.or.us.

If you have any difficulty opening the enclosed links, please contact
