Response to Intervention and Eligibility

At the request of many conference attendees, we are pleased to present a pre-conference session on Wednesday, October 5, the day before the 2011 Fall Conference for Administrators of Special Education. This session is open to anyone interested in this critical topic.

This extended session will provide detailed guidance about the use of RTI in making eligibility decisions for students with Specific Learning Disabilities. Participants will learn about the implementation of systems that allow school staff to conduct a comprehensive evaluation while progress monitoring and tiered interventions occur simultaneously. This woven approach to data collection and eligibility allows students to receive interventions quickly, both during and following eligibility determinations.

Presenters:
David Putnam, Tigard-Tualatin SD
Lisa Bates, Tigard-Tualatin SD
Jon Potter, Tigard-Tualatin SD

The five-hour training will be held at the Eugene Hilton Hotel and Conference Center on October 5, 2011, at 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. Registration is free for Fall Conference participants. For additional information, please contact Catherine Heaton at 503-947-5714 or catherine.heaton at state.or.us<mailto:catherine.heaton at state.or.us>
