What is the Disability Justice Snapshot and why are we sending it out?
The Disability Justice Snapshot is a special edition newsletter sent out through the UCEDD at OHSU. This is the second edition of the Snapshot series and celebrates National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). This email will be sent weekly throughout October and share stories about the rights and advocacy of people with developmental disabilities.

What is National Disability Employment Awareness Month?
In 1945, Congress established a week-long event known as “National Employ the Physically Handicapped Week”. This was because many soldiers had disabilities after serving in World War II. In 1962, it was renamed “National Employ the Handicapped Week” to include people with all types of disabilities. In 1988, it was re-named “National Disability Employment Awareness Month” (NDEAM) and expanded to a month-long celebration of people with disabilities in the workplace.

The University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities is part of the Institute on Development and Disability at OHSU.
