Is there any chance that these courses would be offered at EOU or
somewhere closer to Eastern Oregon?

GIFTED EDUCATION

Provides an introduction to the field of gifted education. Emphasis
is
given to the Oregon TAG Mandate and its implementation. Other topics
include the history of gifted education, Betts' six profiles of gifted
students, identification of twice-exceptional students, and
consideration of
equity vs. equality in assessment and identification of gifted
students

CLASSROOM STRATEGIES FOR TALENTED AND GIFTED EDUCATION
(3 Semester Hours)
Prepares teachers to address the intellectual, developmental, social,
and
emotional characteristics of gifted students within the regular
classroom.
Examines differentiation, dual-exceptionalities, causes and plans of
action
for underachievement, enrichment vs. acceleration models, and habits
of
mind
Fall 2003

SOCIAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS OF GIFTED EDUCATION
(3 Semester Hours)
Explores current research and theory on the social and psychological
development of gifted children and adolescents. Topics covered include
"The
Gifted Identity Model," Dawbrowski's "overexcitabilities,"
perfectionism,
diverse populations, underachievement, and emotional intelligence
PRACTICUM IN TALENTED AND GIFTED EDUCATION
(2 Semester Hours) TBA
Application of knowledge and skills acquired in prior coursework.
Allows
students opportunities to work with talented and gifted students, as
well as
their parents and teachers.
