The University of Oregon College of Education is offering a new series
of classes this year, starting in winter term 2008. No prerequisities
for any term. Appropriate for in-service educators, pre-service
educators and students from other fields, parents and other interested
individuals. 



WINTER TERM 2008

SPED 410/510:  Introduction to Gifted Education

Instructors:  Dr. Marjorie DeBuse & Dr. Laura Allen

Tuesday, 6:00 - 8:50 pm

111 Lillis, University of Oregon Eugene

3 credits

+Focus on gifted individuals including those from diverse backgrounds,
in intellectual, academic, creative, leadership, and artistic domains.  

+Cognitive and affective characteristics, identification, learning
needs, and assessment.  

+History, philosophy, theories, research and key issues connecting
general, special and gifted education.





SPRING TERM 2008

SPED 410/510:  Curriculum & Instruction for Gifted Learners

Instructors:  Dr. Marjorie DeBuse & Dr. Laura Allen

3 credits

Day/Time/Location:  TBA

+Models for delivery of instruction to gifted learners.  

+ Effective curricular, instructional and management strategies.  

+ Individual plans for differentiated instruction that meet state and
federal regulations and guidelines and respond to cultural, linguistic,
and intellectual differences.





SUMMER TERM 2008	

SPED 409 or SPED 609  Practicum: Talented & Gifted Education

Instructor:  Dr. Marjorie DeBuse & Dr. Laura Allen

1-6 credits

Co-Requisite: SPED 407/507 Seminar (1 credit, held weekly),
Day/Time/Location TBA (May occur online)

+By arrangement with instructor.

+May include teaching, program administration or staff development in
the UO Super Summer Program (Elementary) or the UO Summer Enrichment
Program (Secondary).

+Other options negotiable.
