Credentialing Letter Sent to Secretary Sebelius With Over 370 Signatures
*     Over 370 signers from across the country responded to the Telehealth
Leadership Initiative's "call to action" and joined on the credentialing
letter sent to Secretary Sebelius at the Department of Health and Human
Services asking her help in solving the problem with the credentialing of
telehealth practitioners.   TLI wants to thank all of the signers who
answered this "call to action" which was sent to the Department earlier this
week.

Congressman Mike Thompson (D-CA) included language in his comprehensive
telehealth bill (H.R. 2068), requiring the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
(CMS) to accept the Joint Commission's Standards of Telemedicine to be in
compliance with CMS's Conditions of Participation.  These standards were
designed to allow for the credentialing of telehealth practitioners in the
most efficient manner possible.

H.R. 2068 was one of the action items on the agenda for the TLI's June
Telehealth Leadership Conference TLI cosponsored by the HomeCare
Technology Association of America and the American Telemedicine
Association.  With the assistance of the conference participants who took
the H.R 2068 message to Capitol Hill, Congressman Thompson was successful in
having his credentialing "fix" legislation included in the health care
reform package adopted by the House Ways and Means Committee.
